Jeffrey Tan

Jeffrey Tan is an internationally acclaimed choreographer and former principal dancer whose artistry has defined Singapore’s dance landscape for over three decades. Renowned for his inventive choreography and deep musicality, Jeffrey has created more than 50 original works spanning ballet, contemporary dance, musical theatre, and large-scale national ceremonies. His works have been commissioned by leading institutions such as Singapore Dance Theatre, Queensland Ballet, the New Zealand School of Dance, NAFA, and SOTA, as well as major national events including the Singapore National Day Parade, the SEA Games Opening Ceremony, and musicals such as Ah Boys to Men, Army Daze, and Cinderella.


A former Principal Dancer of Singapore Dance Theatre (now Singapore Ballet), Jeffrey performed for nearly two decades in leading classical and contemporary roles, including Romeo in Goh Choo San’s Romeo and Juliet, Franz in Coppélia, and principal roles in Giselle, Les Nuits d’Été, Lambarena, and Rubies. During his tenure, he also served as Resident Choreographer and Assistant Ballet Master, creating new works and coaching dancers for major productions—an experience that solidified his reputation for precision, creativity, and leadership in the professional field.


In 2024, Jeffrey was personally invited by the King of Eswatini to choreograph the nation’s Royal Birthday Gala and National Day Finale—an exceptional honor that highlights his global influence as a Singaporean artist.


Today, as Artistic Director of National Contemporary Ballet and Regional Director of the Singapore Dance Alliance, Jeffrey continues to champion cross-cultural collaboration, youth development, and artistic innovation. A recipient of the Singapore Young Artist Award (Excellence in Dance), he remains a respected adjudicator and mentor at international competitions and the Singapore Youth Festival, shaping the next generation of dance artists.

Dr Peter Gn is a seasoned professional in the field of Dance and Choreography, with a rich educational background from prestigious institutions worldwide. With training from the Victorian College of the Arts (Australia), Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (UK), and the University of Roehampton (UK), Peter holds a Doctorate in Dance and Masters degrees in Choreography and Dance Studies.

As an accomplished choreographer, dance educator, and conference presenter, Peter's creative ventures span across various platforms, from theaters to sports arenas and national events. His artistic approach, rooted in Release Technique and Improvisation, seamlessly blends dance with film, poetry, and music, resulting in captivating interdisciplinary works.

Peter's influence extends globally, having led performance projects and masterclasses in numerous countries, including Australia, Canada, Singapore, and the United States. He has also graced prestigious conferences such as the National Dance Education Organisation Conference and the World Dance Alliance Global Dance Summit.

At IBGPS, Peter has played roles as a Conference Panel Speaker, Workshop Trainer, and Conference Convenor. Additionally, he has served as a Jury Member for esteemed competitions like IAF (2020-2023), showcasing his expertise and commitment to nurturing emerging talents.

Beyond his contributions to academia and competitions, Peter has represented the Ministry of Education (Singapore) in various capacities, including choreographer, coordinator, and consultant for the National Day Parade. As the Choreographer-Director of The Presence Project, Peter continues to captivate audiences with innovative choreography, both locally and internationally.
